About the position

The Store Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the store, ensuring optimal customer service, managing staff, and maintaining compliance with company policies. This role involves recruiting, training, and supervising staff, as well as managing inventory, sales processes, and store appearance. The Store Manager works closely with the Regional Manager to develop strategies for achieving production and sales goals while creating a positive shopping experience for customers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage staff hiring, training, and supervision.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Manager to recruit, interview, and recommend staffing for the assigned store.
  • Oversee scheduling of staff, monitor accuracy, and submit payroll for processing.
  • Prepare and administer corrective action and disciplinary notices in accordance with TSA Policy.
  • Ensure compliance with TSA policies and practices concerning employee relations.
  • Forward all employment-related paperwork to the HR Department at the ARC.
  • Provide training, supervision, and support to beneficiaries assigned to the store as part of their work therapy.
  • Develop, communicate, and implement strategies to meet production and sales goals in conjunction with the Regional Manager.
  • Supervise product acquisition, production, and sales processes.
  • Oversee product rotation and ensure timely turnover of products.
  • Communicate with the central warehouse to place orders for processing needs.
  • Manage store maintenance and appearance regarding safety, security, cleanliness, and utility.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and Salvation Army safety and security policies.
  • Check displays and floor layout plans for adherence and updates.
  • Identify and implement improvements to store appearance and appeal.
  • Report maintenance or repair needs to appropriate personnel at the ARC.
  • Develop customer development and retention plans with the Regional Manager.
  • Create an enjoyable shopping experience and interact positively with customers.
  • Manage recordkeeping and reporting procedures for the store.
  • Maintain TSA approved cash handling procedures for registers.
  • Manage bank runs and daily deposits procedures for the store.
  • Report store production and sales daily.
  • Use inventory tracking for designated product lines.
  • Communicate with the Regional Manager regarding all facets of store operations.
  • Work to keep income and expenses within budget parameters with the Regional Manager.
  • Manage cash handling procedures in accordance with TSA Policy.
  • Be available for a flexible schedule including early shifts, late shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Proactively improve the image of The Salvation Army among staff and customers.
  • Redirect complaints and criticism by educating customers about the program and pricing.
  • Protect resources under supervision and implement product control procedures to prevent shrinkage.
  • Control property, utility, and product supply waste.
  • Support the mission statement of The Salvation Army.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in business administration, retail sales, or marketing preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in staff management and development or a combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in retail management or sales environment.
  • Familiarity with Point of Sales Systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
