About the position

Waterway is seeking candidates for its Manager Training and Development Program in the Kansas City Area. This program is designed for individuals who are eager to learn how to effectively manage and run a business while being active and outdoors. The program, known as Learn to Lead® (L2L), provides structured training and mentorship to help participants develop their leadership skills and advance their careers. Successful candidates will be energetic leaders who are motivated to gain high-quality business and people management experience, with a clear path to advancement within the company.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service by leading by example and delivering outstanding service.
  • Manage daily operations and lead the team to meet customer expectations.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment for customers.
  • Coordinate daily store production through planning and execution.
  • Staff the store based on forecasted business needs and adjust as necessary.
  • Ensure the store is opened and staffed correctly, and follow closing procedures.
  • Perform quality checks and coach the team to improve results.
  • Complete all required administrative tasks punctually and accurately.
  • Resolve customer and employee concerns effectively.
  • Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns or failures.
  • Monitor and manage store inventories and complete regular audits.
  • Lead, manage, and supervise employees, providing direction and coaching.
  • Create weekly employee schedules to ensure sufficient labor coverage.
  • Support and enforce Waterway policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Current and valid driver's license.
  • Must have an associate's degree or above, or at least 2 years of supervisory or management experience in retail or hospitality.
  • Professional sales experience (B2B or B2C) or military leadership experience is acceptable.
  • Available to work a retail schedule of 5 of 7 days, totaling 45 hours per week, including weekends and holidays.
  • At least 16 years of age and authorized to work in the US.
