About the position

Comprenew is a nonprofit organization, protecting people and the environment from unwanted electronics. Extending their life-cycle through refurbishment or properly handling their disassembly and recycling. We hold the highest level of certifications in the world for both electronics recycling and data security. Comprenew offers high quality affordable refurbished electronics for sale at two retail locations in the Grand Rapids area. We are looking for high-energy, self-motivated individuals to serve our customers through sales, repair, and recycling services while contributing to the growth of our retail stores and mission. The ideal candidate should have a technical skill set, an outgoing personality, and the ability to work closely with other members of the Comprenew organization to maintain mission and operational goals. Managers represent, grow, and integrate our service and digital equity programs into the community as a key part of the customer service team. This is a year-round full-time, salaried, position. Comprenew stores are open Monday-Saturday. Potential advancement opportunities exist for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Attain results by coaching, counseling, and shaping other team members; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
  • Achieve financial objectives by reviewing P/L and other financial and performance statements; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions
  • Market merchandise by studying advertising, promotions, and adhering to display plans
  • Secure merchandise by implementing security systems and measures
  • Enter data accurately and in a timely manner into various reports and forms
  • Work cooperatively with fellow store managers and the Director of Outbound to standardize policies and procedures across all stores
  • Maintain order and cleanliness at the store
  • Open and close the store in a safe and secure manner
  • Assist customers in diagnosing basic computer issues
  • Support staff with the residential recycling program, ensuring that all product is sorted properly for pick up
  • Maintain proactive communication with all levels of store personnel
  • Contribute to strategies outlined by the Director of Outbound

Requirements

  • High energy, strong work ethic, positive attitude
  • Basic understanding of most computer parts and pieces
  • Navigate most popular OS including Windows
  • Basic understanding of Windows, Mac OS, and Linux
  • Accurate money handling
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to lift 40lbs repetitively; sit/stand for extended periods; understand, speak and write English; and use fine motor skills for repairing computers

Nice-to-haves

  • Two or more years in a retail management position
  • Proven retail customer service experience, preferably in the technology service area
  • Flexible schedule, willing to work some Saturdays and holidays
  • Spanish speaking is a plus
  • Reliable transportation
