Responsibilities

  • Recruiting, hiring, developing, evaluating, disciplining, and retaining efficient team members.
  • Delivering on the promise of Legendary Customer Service through GURA: Greet the Customer, Uncover Customer's Needs & Wants, Recommend Product Solutions, Ask to Add Value & Appreciate the Customer.
  • Creating and fostering a welcoming environment and sense of belonging in the Store.
  • Scheduling, organizing, and planning daily activities for team members to ensure efficient store operations.
  • Leading team members to ensure the customer has a Legendary shopping experience that differentiates from the competition.
  • Communicating company processes, policies, and directives to team members and evaluating their effectiveness.
  • Learning how to create a desirable work environment through promotions, recognition, and empowerment.
  • Problem solving and conflict resolution for both team members and customers.
  • Learning sales and profit management, accountable for achieving top and bottom line.
  • Promoting a safe and productive work environment.
  • Managing the daily merchandise flow to ensure adequate in-stock and inventory controls.
  • Learning the process of organizing merchandise resets to company specifications on a periodic basis.
  • Implementing and sustaining merchandise presentation per company standards.
  • Evaluating competitive environment and working with Operations and Merchandising teams to ensure quality and performance.
  • Training on daily, weekly, and monthly processing of required paperwork including invoices, schedules, product orders, and returns.
  • Training to do periodic sales forecasting, payroll analysis, and budget review.
  • Training on documentation of team member evaluations and corrective action.
  • Training on managing periodic price changes and communicating inventory needs to buyers and distribution centers.
  • Learning how to work with buyers, supply chain management, district managers, and distribution centers to solve inventory problems.
  • Learning how to coordinate and conduct special sales events and assist District Manager and other Store Managers in solving district issues.
  • Setting the tone for and reinforcing the mission and values of Tractor Supply Company and developing the store as the 'Employer of Choice'.
  • Learning how to address team member issues and concerns, working with HR team when necessary.
  • Learning how to assess and develop team members for advancement within the organization.
  • Training to be responsible for budgeting and sales forecasting and auditing store processes.

Requirements

  • Retail experience and/or farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge is strongly preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license.
  • High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in Agricultural-Science or Business related field preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Valid driver's license if driving for company business.
  • Ability to process information and merchandise through system and POS Register system.
  • Ability to read, write, and count to accurately complete all documentation.
  • Ability to freely access all areas of the store including selling floor, side lot, stock area, and register area.
  • Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run a store such as a dolly, hand-truck, forklift, computer, and cash register.
  • Ability to move and transfer merchandise generally weighing 0-50 lbs. throughout the store.
  • Willingness to work varied hours, days, nights, and weekends as business dictates, plus six days a week during peak seasons in the spring and fall.
  • Ability to work a minimum of 52 hours per week.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time often up to four hours straight without a break.
