About the position

The Store Manager at Lids Sports Group plays a crucial role in driving the performance of the retail store by fostering a passion for sporting and fashion goods. This position is responsible for achieving key results, creating an inclusive environment for the team, and delivering exceptional customer service. The Store Manager oversees all aspects of store operations, including people management, customer experience, and product inventory management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the store's hiring strategy, including planning needs and recruitment strategy.
  • Assist in coordinating onboarding for new team members.
  • Engage team members to create a productive environment and support company objectives.
  • Contribute to a respectful and inclusive team environment.
  • Perform people-related actions to update team member information.
  • Lead and monitor the store's ongoing training strategy.
  • Address employee concerns and partner with internal support when necessary.
  • Drive team engagement through recognition and performance management.
  • Collaborate across store channels using company communication platforms.
  • Lead and execute Selling 101 strategy to achieve KPIs and sales targets.
  • Resolve customer feedback and address issues promptly.
  • Manage in-store team members to ensure optimal customer service.
  • Ensure customers are offered opportunities to participate in membership programs.
  • Manage compliance within scheduling and payroll processes.
  • Plan and manage the store schedule considering team members' qualifications and availability.
  • Manage business disruptions and provide operational continuity.
  • Execute operations-focused company directives and initiatives.
  • Maintain store technology and equipment through audits and maintenance.
  • Maintain store facilities and supplies by executing service requests.
  • Manage cash accurately and prepare for inventory audits.
  • Drive overall store product strategy and manage inventory processes.
  • Organize the backroom to maximize efficiency.
  • Ensure product integrity according to vendor regulations.
  • Lead execution of weekly markdowns and markups.
  • Monitor and manage sell-through and inventory accuracy.
  • Execute optimal layout and visual merchandising strategies.

Requirements

  • A two-year post-secondary education and one-year related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Established ability to produce sales results while minimizing loss.
  • Proven supervisory skills with capacity to deliver training material.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to operate a computer and relevant software programs.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb a ladder and work with hands overhead.
  • Standing required for up to 100% of the work time.
  • Ability and willingness to travel overnight for training and/or business meetings.
  • Ability to work varying days and hours based on business needs.
