About the position

The Store Operations Analyst at Michaels will be a key member of the Store Operations Team, reporting directly to the Manager of Store eCommerce Operations. This role is crucial in leveraging data to inform decision-making processes and serves as a subject matter expert in Store Operations, particularly in eCommerce and store processes. The analyst will support daily store operations, which encompass sales, service, technology, omni-channel strategies, and store communications. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to identify, frame, prioritize, and address business questions where analytics can provide significant insights. In this position, the analyst will design and implement analytics and reporting tools that support critical decisions across various topics, including customer experience, operational performance, and process improvements. The role requires the ability to quickly outline and build customized ad hoc analyses for leadership, encompassing all aspects of analysis such as data acquisition, manipulation, visualization, documentation, and presentation of results. Key activities include collecting and analyzing data to identify root causes of issues, measuring performance against process requirements, and producing analytic reports that yield meaningful insights for leadership to enhance business performance. The analyst will be accountable for data validation of all reports and analyses, as well as the creation and delivery of ongoing field reports, including weekly tracking and reporting. Working closely with technology partners, the analyst will automate reports to ensure they are delivered in a user-friendly manner. Frequent store visits will be necessary to gain insights into operational challenges, utilizing store experiences to identify data correlations. The analyst will also interpret reporting and develop actionable performance recommendations for key stakeholders, while managing multiple tests and projects simultaneously. Utilizing both qualitative and quantitative analytics, the analyst will identify ROI, cost savings, and provide recommendations for process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize qualitative and quantitative analytics to identify ROI and cost savings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a related field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel (v-lookups, pivots, If statements, charts, graphs), Access (query, table comparisons, build macros, create dashboards), PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Experience in store operations or retail management.
  • Strong written and verbal presentation skills, capable of communicating complex analyses to a non-technical audience.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to draw conclusions based on data.
  • Detail-oriented with a structured approach to planning and organization.
  • Ability to initiate, refine, and complete projects with minimal guidance.
  • Capable of working independently and as a team member to meet goals.
  • Flexible schedule with the possibility of working weekends/holidays.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with a company intranet or portal platform such as IBM WebSphere.
  • 2+ years of retail experience preferred.
  • Michaels store experience preferred.
