About the position
The Store Protection Specialist at Ross is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for both associates and customers. This role involves providing a visible presence at store entrances and exits to deter theft and fraud, while also ensuring compliance with loss prevention directives. The Specialist is expected to engage with customers in a friendly manner, monitor for potential theft indicators, and collaborate with store leadership to minimize operational shortages.
Responsibilities
- Provide a visible presence at store entrances/exits to deter theft and fraud.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for associates and customers.
- Greet customers prominently and courteously to enhance customer service.
- Monitor the sales floor for potential theft indicators and suspicious behavior.
- Assist store leadership in compliance with loss prevention directives.
- Educate associates on shortage reduction initiatives and proper checkout procedures.
- Remove clutter and ensure clear egress to emergency exits.
Requirements
- High School education or equivalent required; AA degree preferred.
- One year retail supervisor experience or similar training preferred.
- One year loss prevention/security training preferred.
- Active Security Guard License preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with the store team.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Proven ability to effectively resolve conflict.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in retail loss prevention or security roles.
- Knowledge of theft prevention strategies and techniques.
