About the position

The Store Sales Manager at Mattress Firm is responsible for leading the store's vision and achieving sales performance goals. This role involves managing store associates, driving sales through effective training and coaching, and ensuring a customer-centric environment. The Store Manager will oversee multiple store units, execute merchandising standards, and maintain strong customer relationships, all while fostering a positive and engaging workplace culture.

Responsibilities

  • Drive individual and team sales performance and KPIs
  • Train and coach store employees in sales, product knowledge, and operating activities, providing constructive feedback
  • Create store staff schedule to drive store goals and store profitability
  • Manage sales associate performance and hold them accountable for achieving personal sales goals
  • Execute performance improvement plans, progressively discipline, and terminate when appropriate
  • Lead store visits with District Manager and/or Regional VP, identifying areas of success and opportunity
  • Maintain customer relationships during and post-purchase
  • Create an environment where customers are always at the center and have an exceptional experience
  • Communicate professionally and regularly with field employees to address immediate concerns
  • Assist in multi-store staffing, interviewing, and hiring qualified candidates
  • Continue to develop skills, competencies, and product knowledge through assigned coursework and training
  • Conduct workforce management activities utilizing Operations team support and tools
  • Achieve or exceed individual store financial targets through effective execution and customer service
  • Ensure store execution of product merchandising, marketing, and POP standards
  • Ensure company policies and state regulations are followed
  • Partner with marketing to plan and implement assigned store's social media strategy
  • Ensure timely opening and closing procedures

Requirements

  • Proven experience in retail management or a similar role
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to drive sales and meet performance targets
  • Experience in training and developing staff
  • Knowledge of retail operations and merchandising standards

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the mattress or home goods industry
  • Familiarity with omni-channel retailing
  • Proficiency in using retail management software
