Storekeeper / Material Handler

About the position

The Storekeeper / Material Handler at United Airlines is responsible for managing the inventory and supplies necessary for aircraft maintenance operations. This role involves receiving, issuing, and storing materials, as well as ensuring a safe and organized work environment. The position requires physical stamina and the ability to operate various equipment while adhering to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Perform storekeeper duties in maintenance bases and line operations, including receiving, issuing, and inventorying supplies and materials.
• Open, package, and seal boxes and crates as needed.
• Work indoors and outdoors, exposed to various weather conditions and machinery.
• Climb ladders, bend, stoop, and stand or walk for extended periods.
• Lift, push, and pull heavy items during loading and unloading processes.
• Fuel assigned vehicles and transport parts and materials between locations.
• Sort, count, and prepare labels and related documents for inventory management.
• Read and interpret documents to build kits for aircraft services.
• Maintain an orderly and safe work area, familiarizing with operating procedures and regulations.
• Operate equipment such as forklifts, trucks, and electric carts.
• Use hand tools and handle hazardous materials safely.
• Track inventory using a computer.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent education.
• Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Minimum age of 18 years.
• Basic ability to convert units of weights and measurements.
• Valid state-issued driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Flexibility to work any shift in a 24/7 operation, including weekends and holidays.
• Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
• Reliable and punctual attendance.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous experience in jobs requiring heavy lifting and safety awareness.
• Warehouse or related experience.
• Forklift operation experience.
