About the position

The Storeroom Helper at Dartmouth College is responsible for unloading deliveries of food and supplies, organizing merchandise in storage areas, and assisting with kitchen orders and catering deliveries. This role requires physical stamina and the ability to follow safety procedures while maintaining cleanliness in storerooms and freezers.

Responsibilities

• Unload deliveries of perishable and non-perishable food items and supplies.
• Stack merchandise in designated storage locations.
• Rotate old stock to the front of shelves.
• Assist with the weekly inventory for specific food categories for Dining Services Purchasing Department.
• Assist with the delivery of supplies and equipment for major banquets and routine catering orders.
• Drive a motor vehicle to make deliveries in a timely and efficient manner.
• Fill kitchen orders and pull items from storage shelves according to order lists.
• Load hand carts and deliver items to the kitchen.
• Keep storerooms, freezers, and adjoining hallways clean and neat, including sweeping and mopping floors.
• Remove trash and debris, dust or wipe down storage shelves, and follow proper sanitation procedures.
• Notify supervisor immediately if temperatures change in cooler/freezers.
• Clean and maintain motor vehicles in operating condition.
• Work in the Barrel Room to recycle trash and separate items for recycling.
• Participate in division-wide DEI initiatives and training.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license and qualification under Dartmouth College Driver Safety and Motor Vehicle Policy.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions and safety procedures.
• Ability to work collaboratively with others.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift/carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
