About the position

The Strategic Account Executive at Datadog is responsible for targeting and closing new business with the company's largest and most strategic customers. This role involves understanding the challenges organizations face in cloud environments and delivering tailored Datadog solutions. The position emphasizes building relationships, maintaining a strong sales process, and achieving high forecasting accuracy while working in a hybrid workplace that promotes work-life harmony.

Responsibilities

  • Prospect into large Fortune 1000 companies while running an efficient sales process
  • Maintain, build and own specific relationship maps for your territory including existing relationships and aspirational contacts
  • Develop a deep comprehension of customer's business
  • Negotiate favorable pricing and business terms with large commercial enterprises by selling value and ROI
  • Handle existing customer expectations while expanding reach and depth into assigned territory
  • Demonstrate resourcefulness when faced with challenges that defy easy solution
  • Identify robust set of business drivers behind all opportunities
  • Ensure high forecasting accuracy and consistency

Requirements

  • 5+ years of closing experience (mix of field selling within mid-market and enterprise)
  • Proven track record of meeting/exceeding direct sales goals of $1M+ with an average deal size of $100k+
  • Ability to demonstrate methodology to prospect and build pipeline independently
  • Experience working for an innovative tech company (SaaS, IT infrastructure or similar preferred)
  • Experience selling into large Fortune 1000 companies with the ability to win new logos
  • Ability to sit up to 4 hours, traveling to and from client sites
  • Willingness to travel via auto, train or air up to 70% of the time
