About the position

The Strategic Account Manager - Steep Slope at GAF is a high-energy sales professional responsible for selling the complete line of GAF residential roofing products. This role involves acting as a liaison between GAF and various stakeholders, including building owners, property managers, and design/build firms, to drive specifications and ensure customer satisfaction. The position emphasizes teamwork, market opportunity identification, sales funnel management, and relationship building to enhance GAF's market share and client engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Connect and interact regularly with the local GAF sales and management team to grow GAF's share across the country.
  • Identify market opportunities with national roofing contractors and collaborate with the local GAF team to deliver exceptional service.
  • Manage the sales funnel by progressing and closing potential opportunities through value-selling GAF products.
  • Utilize strong negotiation tactics to leverage value propositions and pricing strategies effectively.
  • Compile reports to highlight successes, learning experiences, and strategic next steps while identifying opportunities to exceed client expectations.
  • Promote GAF warranties as part of a complete specification package to both owners and contractors.
  • Network within the building materials industry to become a trusted advisor to customers and guide them in making informed choices.
  • Engage and educate customers through meetings and presentations, explaining complex subjects clearly and tactfully.
  • Participate in customer shows, conventions, and industry-related activities to develop business relationships with key contractors and distributors.
  • Maintain a positive outlook and balance work with fun while respecting diverse personalities and working with various groups to achieve sales goals.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
  • 7+ Years of Sales Related Experience in Building and Materials
  • Strong Facilitation and Presentation Skills
  • Demonstrated history of high relationship building and conflict resolution
  • Ability to maintain a driver's license

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Understanding of changes in the roofing industry, especially regarding national expansion and private equity
  • Bilingual skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and Google Suite
  • CRM experience strongly preferred
