About the position

The Strategic Accounts Manager for Steep Slope at GAF is a high-energy sales professional responsible for selling the complete line of GAF residential roofing products. This role involves building successful relationships with building owners, property managers, and design/build firms to drive specifications around GAF Steep Slope products. The position emphasizes teamwork, market opportunity identification, sales funnel management, and strategic consulting to influence the building materials industry while ensuring customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Responsibilities

  • Connect and interact regularly with the local GAF sales and management team to grow GAF's market share.
  • Identify market opportunities with national roofing contractors and collaborate with local teams to deliver exceptional service.
  • Manage the sales funnel by progressing and closing potential opportunities through value-selling GAF products.
  • Utilize strong negotiation tactics to overcome objections and convert challenges into growth opportunities.
  • Compile reports to highlight successes, learning experiences, and strategic next steps to exceed client expectations.
  • Promote GAF warranties and preferred products to building owners and contractors as part of a complete specification package.
  • Network to become a trusted advisor to existing and potential customers, guiding them in making informed choices.
  • Engage customers through distributor/contractor meetings, providing insights and product knowledge.
  • Develop business relationships with key contractors and distributors to support GAF products and guarantees.
  • Maintain a positive outlook and balance work with fun, respecting diverse personalities and working collaboratively to achieve sales goals.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
  • 7+ Years of Sales Related Experience in Building and Materials
  • Strong Facilitation and Presentation Skills
  • Demonstrated history of high relationship building and conflict resolution
  • Ability to maintain a driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Understanding of changes in the roofing industry, especially regarding national expansion and private equity.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and Google Suite
  • CRM experience strongly preferred.
