About the position

The Strategic Accounts Manager - Steep Slope at GAF is a high-energy sales role focused on building relationships and closing new business in the residential roofing sector. This position acts as a liaison between GAF and various stakeholders, including building owners and contractors, to promote GAF's Steep Slope products. The role emphasizes teamwork, strategic market engagement, and the ability to influence and educate clients while driving sales and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the local GAF sales and management team to enhance market share.
  • Identify market opportunities with national roofing contractors and connect them with local teams.
  • Manage the sales funnel, converting potential opportunities into closed deals through value-selling.
  • Utilize strong negotiation skills to overcome objections and leverage pricing strategies.
  • Compile reports to analyze performance and strategize for future opportunities.
  • Network within the building materials industry to become a trusted advisor to clients.
  • Engage in customer shows and industry events to build relationships with contractors and distributors.
  • Develop business relationships with roofing contractor owners to promote GAF's values.
  • Maintain a positive outlook and balance work with fun, respecting diverse personalities.
  • Utilize social media to gain insights into market trends and customer communication.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 7+ years of sales experience in building and materials.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability in relationship building and conflict resolution.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Understanding of changes in the roofing industry, especially regarding national expansion and private equity.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Google Suite.
  • Experience with CRM systems.
