About the position

As a Strategic Business Development Executive at FedEx Logistics, you will play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining strategic partnerships with both new and existing customers. Your primary focus will be on overseeing customer accounts and strategically crafting solutions that precisely meet customer needs while driving optimal sales and profits. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities for account growth and offering customers a comprehensive array of value-added services. Additionally, you will analyze key trends within the ocean and freight forwarding industry to uncover new sales opportunities and monitor competitor actions to ensure that appropriate responses are formulated and communicated effectively. In this role, you will establish strategic partnerships specifically for the company's ocean and freight forward business. You will be expected to demonstrate an agile mindset, lead by example, and embrace change, all while emphasizing attentive listening to business objectives. Your responsibilities will include developing customer accounts on a global scale, driving growth through high-level strategies, and leading account growth for effective execution. You will engage in proactive networking to prospect target customers and leverage existing relationships within the broader FedEx enterprise. Furthermore, you will develop the sales strategy for deploying the company's services to customer opportunities within the ocean and freight business, ensuring the attainment of revenue and margin/yield goals for assigned accounts. You will also be tasked with formulating and developing comprehensive business plans for each account, addressing sales growth activities, and coordinating customer-based activities and strategies globally. Engaging with customers at a senior level to assess satisfaction, manage critical situations with at-risk accounts, and ensure a proactive approach to customer needs will be crucial. Collaboration across functional areas in the development of solutions, proposals, and pricing models will be essential, including attending sales calls to further define opportunities and develop value propositions for account closure. You will manage the proposal and presentation process, utilize established processes and tools, and ensure all data is accurate and up to date. Weekly reporting on all accounts in stages for new business development will be part of your responsibilities, as well as providing leadership for sales by continuously energizing efforts to move new potential customers through the sales cycle in a professional, passionate, and engaging manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent and eight (8) years of ocean and freight forward sales experience required.
  • Experience selling to C-Suite Executives is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience with logistics processes, solutions, and project management.
  • Strong understanding of ocean freight import process from issuance to final delivery.
  • Successful experience selling solutions globally to customers of varying size and complexity.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve major account sales goals and to plan and execute major customer sales strategies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop effective customer and employee relationships.
  • Strategic planning and sales management skills.
