About the position
The Strategic Buyer position at HOT NPA Worldwide is a critical role within the Global Procurement Team, focusing on the Inks division across North America. The role involves overseeing raw material sourcing, implementing procurement strategies, and managing supplier relationships to ensure a steady and cost-effective supply chain. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Product Development Labs (PDL) to align procurement strategies with corporate goals, ensuring production continuity while minimizing costs.
Responsibilities
- Negotiate and manage company-wide purchasing agreements for designated raw materials.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with PDL objectives.
- Oversee supplier selection, contract negotiations cradle to grave, pricing discussions, and terms management.
- Conduct cost and price analyses to ensure competitive pricing and overall value.
- Address and resolve quality, delivery, and pricing challenges, negotiating settlements as necessary to prevent financial setbacks.
- Formulate and execute procurement strategies to guarantee material availability at the best possible costs.
- Maintain awareness of market trends and proactively manage issues impacting procurement.
- Establish standard costs for production materials and contribute to make-or-buy assessments.
- Foster long-term relationships with suppliers to align with corporate goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in purchasing, supply chain management, or a related field.
- Experience in sourcing raw materials within the chemical sector.
- Strong understanding of EBITA and TCO as well as Elasticity of Pricing.
- Strategic mindset with the ability and experience writing a buyer or procurement plan.
- Understanding of chemical manufacturing processes and legal considerations in purchasing.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to perform effectively under pressure to maintain production flow.
- Proficient in identifying potential supply issues in advance and implementing risk mitigation strategies.
- Competence in cost/price analysis and inventory management techniques.
- Familiarity with various transportation methods, supply/demand dynamics, and opportunities for cost savings.
