About the position

The Strategic Buyer at American Greetings Corporation is responsible for managing the entire lifecycle of category/commodity procurement, from strategy development to execution. This role involves sourcing materials to support multiple manufacturing facilities, negotiating with suppliers, and collaborating with various departments to ensure alignment with business objectives. The buyer will also focus on continuous improvement and cost reduction strategies within the supply chain.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of category/commodity procurement from strategy to execution.
• Establish and maintain a category strategy for sourcing and procuring materials.
• Collaborate with key partners to source new materials and solicit competitive proposals.
• Negotiate with potential suppliers and present recommended suppliers to Sourcing Management.
• Work with various departments to establish replenishment strategies that meet company goals.
• Manage established materials and suppliers, updating strategies as necessary.
• Develop cost reduction opportunities in collaboration with internal and external partners.
• Continuously improve tools and analytics for managing supply strategies.
• Prepare and negotiate RFPs and draft service and supply agreements.
• Conduct market research and analyze industry trends for cost savings opportunities.
• Prepare and present procurement reports and analytics to senior management.

Requirements

• Experience in procurement or supply chain management.
• Strong negotiation skills and experience with supplier management.
• Ability to analyze market trends and supplier capabilities.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with various departments.
• Experience in drafting and reviewing contracts and agreements.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in the creative or manufacturing industries.
• Familiarity with procurement software and analytics tools.
• Knowledge of cost reduction strategies and continuous improvement methodologies.
