About the position
The Communication Strategy intern will gain hands-on experience in developing communication plans and content strategies within an academic medical center. This role involves managing projects from conception to delivery, fostering relationships with partner departments, and providing excellent customer service while tracking internal processes related to requests. The intern will interact with various internal groups, including clinical and research departments, enhancing their understanding of communication in a healthcare setting.
Responsibilities
- Coordinating integrated communication project plans
- Enhancing relationships with key partners across the institution
- Collaborating with various internal departments to ensure that requests are fulfilled
- Researching best practices, understanding audiences and developing ideas to meet needs
- Identifying customer service gaps within existing projects
- Attending cross-functional meetings to better understand departmental and institutional goals
- Brainstorming, participating in decision-making, researching, and presenting project information to various teams
- Perform other duties as needed
Requirements
- Working toward an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university with coursework in media, communications, journalism, digital media, marketing, public relations, English or similar field with a 3.0 GPA or above
- Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office products, such as Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams and Excel
- Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills
- Able to manage priorities and work autonomously as appropriate
- Proven ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to influence and engage a wide range of workgroups
- Maintains confidentiality
