About the position

As a Strategic Communications and Planning Specialist, you will play a crucial role in enhancing stakeholder communication that aligns with and supports the organization's mission, values, and objectives. Your expertise in communications will be pivotal in informing and engaging key audiences, thereby promoting the organization's reputation. In this position, you will leverage your consulting skills and experience to design, develop, produce, and consult on a variety of internal and external communication materials and media that support national security objectives. Your responsibilities will include developing creative solutions to complex problems, fostering relationships with team members, stakeholders, and clients to facilitate strategic communication, and supporting strategic planning throughout the organization. You will provide analytical support for the development of briefings, talking points, and key messages, conduct baseline assessments, design communication approaches or plans, and create products that support these strategies. Additionally, you will analyze client needs and make tailored recommendations regarding messaging, communication methods, and timing for various target audiences. This role requires a self-guided yet collaborative spirit, as you will be expected to adapt to changing priorities and adjust your writing style to meet the needs of diverse audiences. Your contributions will be essential in ensuring that the organization effectively communicates its objectives and engages with stakeholders in a meaningful way.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic communication plans to support organizational objectives.
  • Create and revise communication products and materials for internal and external audiences.
  • Analyze client needs and tailor messages and communication methods accordingly.
  • Provide analytical support for briefings, talking points, and key messages.
  • Conduct baseline assessments to inform communication strategies.
  • Foster relationships with team members, stakeholders, and clients to facilitate effective communication.
  • Adapt writing style to meet the needs of various audiences and respond to changing priorities.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience with strategic communications and planning.
  • Experience developing and revising communication products and materials to support a strategic communication plan.
  • Knowledge of Navy organizational structure and culture.
  • Ability to respond to changing priorities and adapt writing style to meet the needs of audiences at various levels.
  • TS/SCI clearance required.
  • Bachelor's degree.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5+ years of experience with strategic communications and planning.
  • Experience supporting a Command.
  • Knowledge of Information Warfare domain functions, including training, readiness, and integration.
  • Ability to translate ideas and concepts into professional communication products.
  • Excellent analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
