About the position

The Strategic Communications & FE Public Affairs Specialist will play a crucial role in organizing and implementing the Defense Health Agency (DHA) Front End (FE) communications projects. This position involves collaborating with Forward Operating Base (FOB) leadership to establish and execute a strategic communications plan that focuses on the deployment of LogiCole to the Defense Health Networks, Military Treatment Facilities, and DHA staff. The specialist will be responsible for building the strategic communication requirements and conducting work groups to review and gain consensus on various communication initiatives. In this role, the specialist will create and deliver clear messages across multiple channels, including SharePoint, newsletters, reports, presentations, media releases, and events. The position requires liaising between DHA FE Branches and Sections on key communications projects, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and engaged. The primary location for this position is San Antonio, TX, and the specialist will represent and advocate for communication program requirements in support of senior executives while supporting various medical programs for installations worldwide. The specialist will also standardize the strategic communications approach across the division, facilitate multi-discipline input, and proactively recycle best practices back into program/project tools. This includes communicating programmatic and technical requirements to senior executives, organizations, contracting agents, and industry partners, as well as assisting in resolving issues as necessary. The role involves maintaining information flow among parties to ensure efficient program and project execution, developing program presentations, and providing recommendations on policy and implementation as required. Additionally, the specialist will establish strategies for optimizing access to and communication of policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and Facilities Information, Instruction, & Guidance (FIIG) Bulletins. The position also requires coordination with the Joint Medical Logistics Functional Development Center (JMLFDC) and the technical developer of LogiCole as new projects emerge, along with managing SharePoint support and assisting with FOB trainings and webinars.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and implement DHA FE's communications projects.
  • Establish and implement a strategic communications plan regarding the deployment of LogiCole.
  • Build strategic communication requirements and conduct work groups for consensus.
  • Create and deliver clear messages across multiple channels such as SharePoint, newsletters, and media releases.
  • Liaise between DHA FE Branches and Sections on key communications projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in communications management or project management.
  • Three (3) years' experience with DMLSS-FM module or LogiCole development.
  • General knowledge of operations at higher level staff including DoD and OSD.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of DoD and military department structures and missions.
  • Ability to evaluate staff actions and proposals in relation to DHA's and DoD's strategic plans.
  • Analytical skills to translate DHA program objectives into actionable plans.
  • Possess an active favorable NACI.
