About the position

The Strategic Communications Test Engineer at Astrion is responsible for conducting test planning, execution, and data analysis on strategic systems for the Cyber TMAS II contract supporting the Air Force. This mid-level position requires collaboration in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment, focusing on satellite-based communications networks and operational testing. The role involves developing test documentation, executing test procedures, and briefing senior leadership on test results, while also providing opportunities for professional growth and learning.

Responsibilities

  • Provides test planning support, including development of an integrated Test and Evaluation (T&E) strategy.
  • Authors and coordinates Developmental Test & Evaluation (DT&E)-related documentation including test plans, procedures, reports, and briefings.
  • Plans and/or participates in program and DT&E and Cybersecurity-related meetings.
  • Assists the government in test oversight during contractor testing and supports the ITT.
  • Acts as Test Lead for planning, executing, and reporting on required DT&E events.
  • Coordinates applicable resources, activities, data, and documentation with Participating Test Organizations (PTOs).
  • Ensures safety concerns, deficiencies, and watch items are tracked and reported.
  • Travels to various sites to participate in planning, execution, data analysis, and report generation.
  • Reviews Technical documentation to gather data on system design and support.
  • Attends or hosts meetings to provide briefings, information, and recommendations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 3 - 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Eligible for a Secret and Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
  • Relevant technical and/or operational experience with satellite-based communications networks.
  • Ability to organize information from multiple sources into a consolidated message.
  • Ability to run test procedures, execute test scripts, and collect data for analysis.
  • Experience developing and authoring documents such as briefings, plans, and reports.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently without continuous direction.
  • Ability to communicate and present technical details both written and verbally.
  • Ability and willingness to brief senior leadership on plans and results of test events.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Active Top Secret clearance.
  • Relevant technical and/or operational experience with NC2 systems.
  • Technical experience with satellite systems such as Milstar or WGS.
  • Knowledge of Scientific Test and Analysis Techniques (STAT) and Design of Experiments (DoE).
  • DoD acquisition experience related to test and evaluation processes.
  • Familiarity with missions supported by U.S. Space Force or U.S. Strategic Command.
