The Strategic Communicator will serve as a vital member of the Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) team for the DTRA On-Site Inspection and Building Capacity (OB) Directorate. This role is essential in supporting the Front Office by effectively communicating the Directorate's activities both internally and externally. The OB Directorate plays a crucial role in enabling the Department of Defense, the U.S. Government, and International Partners to counter and deter Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) through Arms Control and Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) Building Partner Capacity Activities. The primary focus of this position is to develop and disseminate strategic communications that highlight the successes and missions of the OB Directorate, thereby providing insight into DTRA's overarching mission to Deter, Prevent, and Prevail. In this strategic communications role, the incumbent will be responsible for creating, editing, and managing a variety of communication products that promote the OB Directorate's mission. This includes preparing the OB Director's weekly talking points for the DTRA Director's Staff Meeting (DSM) and the semi-monthly Key Accomplishment report. The Strategic Communicator will also draft executive-level written deliverables such as ghost emails, articles, speeches, newsletters, and internal blogs. Additionally, the role involves managing social media content in coordination with DTRA Public Affairs, ensuring that the OB team effectively communicates its messages to external audiences. The Strategic Communicator will act as the subject matter expert on the DTRA Public Affairs process, coordinating requests for visual information support, including photography and video production. The position also requires logistical support for off-site meetings and training events, as well as conducting research and interviews to create compelling stories that reflect the OB Directorate's impact. The role is dynamic and may involve additional ad hoc duties as assigned, making it essential for the candidate to possess strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
