About the position

The Strategic Procurement Purchasing Manager at Kratos Defense is responsible for leading a team of procurement professionals to ensure compliance, product quality, and effective teamwork. This role involves developing and executing policies that align with industry standards and managing supplier relationships to drive continuous improvement in procurement processes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of procurement professionals, ensuring teamwork, product quality, and compliance.
  • Develop, maintain, and conduct training for the procurement team.
  • Serve as a mentor and coach for team members.
  • Develop and execute policies supporting FAR, DFAR, and contractual requirements for CPSR and ISO 9001 compliance.
  • Maintain strong business relationships with suppliers.
  • Develop innovative solutions to complex procurement problems.
  • Perform risk analysis and develop mitigation plans.
  • Identify KPIs and maintain performance metrics for continuous improvement.
  • Source, negotiate, and purchase machinery, equipment, and supplies as per contract requirements.
  • Lead preparation of RFQs and bid packages.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and Government Prime Contract requirements.
  • Perform compliance reviews of the team's work.
  • Assist with price/cost analysis and compliance documentation.
  • Compile and analyze statistical data for procurement feasibility and price objectives.
  • Establish metrics to track supplier performance.
  • Evaluate opportunities to leverage material acquisitions.
  • Track data on price trends and market dynamics.
  • Review quotes/proposals, negotiate prices, and select suppliers.
  • Support monthly reviews of procurement workload and performance.
  • Maintain high ethical standards in all procurement activities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of related experience in material procurement and management.
  • Significant purchasing experience with various contract types.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Experience in preparing RFQs/RFPs and negotiating terms and conditions.
  • Working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and MRP/ERP systems.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills with the ability to manage complexity.
  • Ability to develop and negotiate long-term purchasing agreements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated experience managing Supply Chain activities for large programs.
  • Proficiency with the Costpoint MRP/ERP system.
  • Ability to work independently and manage large workloads.
  • Proven exceptional organizational skills.
  • Experience with the Contractor Purchasing System Review (CPSR) process.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering or related field.
