About the position

The Strategic Program Manager - Business Development at Visa is responsible for planning and executing key internal and client-facing strategic projects and events. This role requires a blend of strategic and tactical project management skills, with a focus on collaboration across various functions and stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of projects that align with Visa's strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project management and development of Visa's key event programs, ensuring alignment with regional strategic objectives.
  • Direct all aspects of the event life cycle including project management, site selection, contracting, budgeting, attendee management, logistics, vendor management, and post-event reconciliation.
  • Partner with business planning functions to formulate event strategies and content that align with Visa's strategic priorities.
  • Act as a content and logistics consultant to Business Development Leaders, organizing strategic discussions with Regional Clients.
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors to ensure flawless execution of events.
  • Identify and solve obstacles, looking for simplification of processes and standardization throughout initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain a centralized repository of guidelines, best practices, and past deliverables for event planning.
  • Ensure proper closure of each project, including documentation and release of project resources.

Requirements

  • 5 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD.
  • At least 3 years of experience in Event Program Management or Project Management.
  • Solid understanding of project and resource management techniques, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills, particularly with senior executive level stakeholders.
  • Strong customer orientation with a focus on delivering impactful meetings for clients and attendees.

Nice-to-haves

  • 7-10 years of work experience and a Bachelor's Degree or 6 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 years of experience with a PhD.
  • Creative approach to event concept development with a desire to innovate and improve event aspects.
  • Strong communication skills in both English and Spanish.
