About the position

As an Indirect Strategic Sourcing Intern at Cencora, you will have the unique opportunity to apply your academic knowledge in a practical, business-driven environment. This internship is designed to provide you with hands-on experience in the Healthcare Distribution industry, where you will work closely with the Procurement team to support strategic initiatives that enhance supplier management, indirect sourcing, contract negotiation, and overall procurement effectiveness. Over the course of our 10-week summer program, you will not only gain valuable insights into the impact of procurement on human and animal health but also contribute to meaningful projects that align with our mission of creating healthier futures. During your internship, you will engage in a variety of activities that will help you develop essential skills and knowledge in procurement. You will assist with Procurement projects within an end-to-end global procurement platform, which encompasses People, Processes, and Systems (P2P). Your role will require strong interpersonal and communication skills, as you will collaborate with both internal stakeholders and external vendors. Effective time management and workflow prioritization will be crucial as you work to meet deadlines and produce high-quality deliverables. You will provide analytical support to the internal team, conduct research on industry best practices, and assist in developing strategies to optimize supplier selection and performance management. Additionally, you will analyze spend data to identify cost-saving opportunities and collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements for system enhancements or process automation. This internship will also involve conducting supplier assessments, creating training materials related to procurement transformation initiatives, and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) associated with procurement projects. Overall, this internship is an excellent opportunity to become a key contributor to Cencora's future talent pipeline while gaining invaluable experience in the field of procurement.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with Procurement projects in an end-to-end global procurement platform that includes People, Processes and Systems (P2P).
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to enhance supplier management.
  • Utilize effective time management skills and workflow prioritization to meet deadlines and produce high quality work.
  • Provide analytical support to internal team to assist in project deliverables.
  • Conduct research on industry best practices and emerging trends in procurement.
  • Assist in developing and implementing strategies to optimize supplier selection, evaluation, and performance management.
  • Support the analysis of spend data to identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements for system enhancements or process automation.
  • Assist in conducting supplier assessments and evaluations.
  • Help create training materials or resources related to procurement transformation initiatives.
  • Support the implementation of new systems or tools that enhance procurement efficiency.
  • Assist in tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) related to procurement transformation projects.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Analytics, or other related majors.
  • Must not require sponsorship to work in the US now or in the future.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with proven people/project leadership throughout academic career.
  • Ability to work in an unstructured environment and make tradeoff decisions quickly.
  • Effective coaching, facilitation, presentation, and team building skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
  • Flexibility for relocation to allow for greater advancement opportunities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Good project management skills and strong interpersonal, teamwork, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
