About the position

The Strategic Sourcing Manager - Logistics will collaborate with the Senior Sourcing Manager and Buyers to develop and implement buying strategies for logistics, focusing on optimizing resources and managing supplier relationships. This role is crucial for the commercial relationship with FedEx and other small parcel suppliers, as well as for less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation procurement across various Mars segments in North America. The position requires strong cross-functional collaboration and the ability to drive standardization and automation in procurement processes.

Responsibilities

  • Purchase indirect goods & services by securing price, capacity & service levels in line with commitments to the business and sourcing strategies.
  • Assess and develop suppliers to meet business needs and opportunities.
  • Ensure effective risk management of the supply base through robust contracts and monitoring of financial and other KPIs.
  • Establish & maintain relationships with finance directors and department directors to understand their needs and facilitate appropriate challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, systems & controls.
  • Provide market and financial insights to the internal sourcing planning process.
  • Recommend and implement best practices for areas of responsibility.
  • Participate in external forums and associations.
  • Lead and contribute to global/regional projects as required.
  • Actively participate in cross-segment team meetings and specific subcategory team meetings.
  • Regularly maintain & update relevant KPIs related to investments such as savings and payment terms.
  • Support new product launches, line extensions, and continuous improvement programs for indirect goods and services.
  • Execute supplier performance reviews on a regular basis.
  • Develop & implement a continuous improvement action plan and monitor changes to sustain performance results.
  • Identify and manage supplier collaboration initiatives.
  • Manage all related commercial, financial & ethical situations.
  • Influence internal stakeholders to align with global & regional buying strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering or similar.
  • Minimum 3 years of procurement experience, preferably in Logistics Category.
  • Demonstrated experience managing small parcel suppliers and problem-solving under pressure.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with suppliers and cross-functional stakeholders both domestically and internationally.
