About the position

The Strategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for sourcing products and services essential for the operations of Task Force Tips, a manufacturer of firefighting equipment. This role involves managing supplier relationships, evaluating quotes, negotiating prices, and ensuring the procurement of quality products while adhering to internal policies. The specialist will also track purchases, optimize inventory levels, and monitor supplier performance to support the company's supply chain objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and qualify suppliers to create a robust supply chain.
  • Evaluate quotes and negotiate prices and terms with suppliers.
  • Purchase quality products and services in accordance with internal policies.
  • Track purchases and optimize inventory levels of procured goods.
  • Monitor supplier performance and maintain relevant information.
  • Develop and implement sourcing and supplier selection strategies.
  • Establish and direct a cost reduction program without sacrificing quality.
  • Plan raw materials and purchased component requirements based on usage and demand.
  • Analyze purchases, costs, deliveries, and product performance.
  • Create and track Purchase Orders for materials and services needed.
  • Maintain data affecting the company's operating system functionality.
  • Cooperate with Receiving and Accounts Payable departments for purchase dispute resolution.
  • Create and update internal procedures and work instructions.
  • Participate in site leadership activities including safety and continuous improvement projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience using an MRP/ERP system highly desirable.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and remain organized.
  • Ability to prepare accurate and effective written communications and reports.
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and assume new responsibilities readily.
  • Willingness to comply with applicable laws and company policies.
  • Ability to perform routine tasks with minimal supervision.
