About the position

The Strategic Supply and Inventory Planning Manager at Amazon Data Services, Inc. plays a crucial role in managing the supply chain for AWS data centers. This position requires a results-oriented individual who will support ISCaP planning and sourcing requirements for mission-critical part supply chains. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with various teams to align on both short and long-range supply plans, contributing to the Global Spare Planning function to understand the needs of data centers across the network and manage inventory across different nodes of the supply chain. This role is pivotal in ensuring that AWS maintains its high standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for customers. In this position, you will be responsible for monitoring and reviewing historical usage trends, researching demand drivers, and utilizing forecast data and statistical models to analyze auto-generated forecast outputs. You will interact with data center operations, hardware engineering, business service owners, supply chain teams, and logistics operations to understand business needs and demand drivers. The role also involves developing and communicating comprehensive spare parts inventory strategies and processes that align with multiple channels, department plans, key inventory targets, and business goals. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of inventory management principles and systems, with a strong analytical skill set to distill, synthesize, and draw conclusions from large amounts of data. Responsibilities

  • Monitor and review historical usage trends and research demand drivers.
  • Utilize forecast data and statistical forecast models to analyze auto-generated forecast output.
  • Interact with data center operations, hardware engineering, business service owners, supply chain teams, and logistics operations to understand business needs and demand drivers.
  • Develop and communicate comprehensive spare parts inventory strategies and processes in alignment with multiple channels, department plans, key inventory targets, and business goals.
  • Create and execute inventory strategies to achieve key business outcomes while proactively identifying improvements.
  • Leverage reports and analytics to make recommendations in line with business strategy and goals.
  • Review buying multiples, minimums, replenished forecasts, lead-times, and vendor performance to optimize inventory performance.
  • Collaborate with business partners, suppliers, and operations proactively for the collaborative forecasting process to drive inventory optimization, part availability, and cost productivity.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience leading and managing supply and inventory planning.
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in demand planning, supply planning, supply chain planning, and/or inventory planning.
  • 3+ years of experience with advanced Excel features (such as V-lookups & pivot tables).
  • Deep understanding of inventory management principles and systems.
  • MBA or Master's Degree in Supply Chain/Operations or related field.
  • Previous technology hardware planning and operation knowledge.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of SQL, Python, or other programming languages.
  • Experience with Inventory Modeling / Supply Chain Management concepts, e.g., forecasting, planning, optimization, regression analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to distill, synthesize, and draw conclusions on large amounts of data.
  • Excellent business judgment, strong written and oral communication skills, and a practical, common sense approach to getting things done while managing multiple, competing priorities.
