About the position

The Strategist role within the World Services division focuses on partnering with various sectors to address critical global issues such as national security, social justice, and conflict prevention. The position involves utilizing research and best practices to assist government organizations in achieving their objectives through effective communication strategies. The role is based in Washington DC and requires a strong understanding of international relations and the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Use multiple sources of research and critical thinking to assist government organizations in achieving their objectives.
  • Apply best practices in advertising, communications, and behavior change to develop solutions for client problem sets.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary, cross-agency team to deliver measurable effects.
  • Support the Strategy Lead/Director in developing achievable communications objectives and frameworks.
  • Conduct market analysis and refine target audience understanding.
  • Work with the research team to develop evaluation frameworks and analyze findings to optimize strategies and campaigns.
  • Ensure creative products and solutions are strategically aligned with desired effects.
  • Leverage relevant communications channels to drive desired effects.
  • Maintain an understanding of strategic best practices and emerging technologies in the commercial and development sectors.
  • Stay informed on current affairs and socio-economic aspects of project geographies.

Requirements

  • 5 years of demonstrated strategic/tactical/media communication experience within the last 10 years.
  • Knowledge of multiple forms of research for strategy development and reporting.
  • Understanding of communications principles and best practices from commercial and development sectors.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Confident and well-prepared presenter.
  • Proficient in developing communications strategies from first principles to implementation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Must be able to legally work in the US.
  • Flexibility to work outside of contracted hours.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the defense and international development sectors or similar fields.
  • Relevant cross-disciplinary experience or collaboration with academia, behavioral scientists, or the tech industry.
