About the position

As a Strategy and Business Operations Lead at Baxter, you will play a crucial role in our mission to save and sustain lives. This position is integral to the Quality team, which is dedicated to ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of safety and efficacy throughout their lifecycle. You will be involved in various initiatives that enhance the quality and efficiency of our digital applications and solutions, working closely with both global and segment teams. Your creativity and thoroughness will be essential as you navigate complex internal processes to facilitate the delivery of high-quality products that positively impact patients' lives. In this role, you will partner with the segment director of strategy and business operations to implement digital transformation projects, including software development and the introduction of new technologies. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, product management, engineering, and business partners, to align on segment quality objectives and requirements. Your responsibilities will include executing quality assurance processes, establishing best practices, and providing metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of quality assurance efforts. You will also conduct risk assessments to identify areas for improvement in digital systems and workflows, ensuring that quality remains a top priority. Staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies will be vital as you drive a culture of quality and innovation within the organization. This position may require up to 25% travel worldwide, reflecting the global nature of our operations and the need to collaborate with external partners and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with segment leadership on the implementation of digital transformation projects, including software development, implementation of new technologies, and process improvements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, product management, engineering, and business partners, to understand segment quality objectives and requirements
  • Implement and execute quality assurance processes, standards, and best practices to ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions
  • Provide metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensure appropriate data is available to measure the effectiveness of quality assurance efforts and track progress
  • Conduct risk assessments and identify potential areas for improvement in digital systems, processes, and workflows and partner with IT as needed based upon the system architecture
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in quality assurance and digital transformation
  • Collaborate with external partners, vendors, and consultants to tap into expertise and resources for digital transformation initiatives
  • Drive a culture of quality and innovation, fostering collaboration, creativity, and accountability across the organization

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field; master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in quality assurance, compliance or quality systems management within the pharmaceutical OR medical device industry, with progressively increasing levels of responsibility
  • Experience in project management
  • Thorough knowledge of drug regulations and standards
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and leadership skills
  • Good interpersonal/communication/influencing/negotiation skills
  • Good project management skills
  • Ability to analyze risk and make decisions

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with digital transformation initiatives
  • Familiarity with agile project management methodologies
