About the position

The Strategy Director and Chief of Staff will play a pivotal role in providing direct professional support to the President of Carelon Research. This leader will actively lead comprehensive strategic planning for the Carelon Research team, ensuring that key initiatives and projects are executed effectively to meet the team's business commitments. The focus will be on driving high-value analytics and delivering actionable insights for clients and business partners across the healthcare landscape, including life sciences, government, and internal stakeholders within Elevance Health. The Director will need to possess a deep understanding of all aspects of the business and will partner closely with executive leadership to define the strategy and success criteria for the future. Success in this role requires the ability to translate strategy into defined tactics, prioritize programs and projects, and establish timelines that align with enterprise strategic plans. The Director will work collaboratively with line of business leads and matrixed partners to turn strategy into reality, leveraging relationships to provide innovative solutions to complex business problems. Additionally, the Director will be responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of line of business planning and project activities, as well as managing an effective internal communication strategy for the President. This position will also focus on curating a positive work culture for all associates, ensuring that the team is engaged and motivated to achieve their goals.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct professional support to the President of Carelon Research.
• Lead comprehensive strategic planning for the Carelon Research team.
• Engage across multiple lines of business to ensure execution of key initiatives and projects.
• Translate strategy into defined tactics, programs/projects priorities, and timelines.
• Ensure alignment and attainment of enterprise strategic plans.
• Build and leverage relationships to provide innovative solutions to complex business problems.
• Develop and manage an effective internal communication strategy for the President.
• Communicate status, priorities, strategies, and success metrics to stakeholders.
• Create and organize presentation materials for meetings with all levels of the organization.
• Propose opportunities to improve results based on continuous needs assessment.
• Curate a positive work culture for all associates.

Requirements

• BA/BS degree in a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of related experience including prior leadership experience.
• 3 to 5 years of strategic planning experience.
• Experience in a healthcare evidence-generation business in life science, government agency, or academic research segments.

• Experience with C-level communication design and delivery across large, matrix organizations.
• Experience as a Chief of Staff to the executive leader and VP team.
• Experience with growth strategy, strategic business planning, and management consulting.
