About the position

The Streets & Stormwater Serviceperson I position at the Town of Steilacoom involves performing various outdoor maintenance tasks related to streets and stormwater management. The role requires a dedicated individual to maintain and repair streets, sidewalks, and storm drain systems, operate heavy equipment, and respond to emergencies, ensuring compliance with safety standards and providing support to town customers and coworkers.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and repairs streets, sidewalks, and right of ways including snow/ice control, asphalt patching, and vegetation management.
• Maintains, installs, and repairs the Town's storm drain system, including mains, culverts, and catch basins.
• Operates various heavy equipment such as backhoes and dump trucks safely and efficiently.
• Repairs and maintains traffic control devices according to MUTCD standards.
• Responds to callouts and emergencies as required.
• Maintains compliance with vehicle and equipment use requirements.
• Provides support to town customers, citizens, and coworkers.
• Assists other departments such as electric, water, sewer, and parks as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid Washington State Driver's License Combination Class: B with tanker endorsement.
• Good driving record and ability to comply with random drug and alcohol testing.
• Washington Industrial First Aid Certification and CPR Certification.
• Ability to obtain a Washington State Flagging Card.
