About the position

The Strength & Conditioning Coach at Northwestern University is responsible for implementing, conducting, and monitoring strength and conditioning programs for varsity sports. This role also involves assisting with the rehabilitation of injured athletes and managing the strength and conditioning facility. The coach will play a vital role in educating student-athletes about nutrition and supplementation while fostering a supportive and faith-based environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, conduct, and monitor strength and conditioning programs for Northwestern's varsity sports.
• Coordinate student-athlete rehabilitation with sports medicine; assist with rehabilitation of injured athletes.
• Support education for student-athletes about nutrition and supplementation.
• Assist with coordinating, maintenance, and staffing of weight room/strength facilities.
• Assist in identifying and purchasing needed strength and conditioning equipment.
• Assist in scheduling weight room training for the various athletic programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required, master's preferred; supplemented with two (2) years of related experience.
• National Strength and Conditioning Association or Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association certification required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of strength and conditioning equipment.
• Ability to interact with a variety of individuals in a professional, courteous and tactful manner.
• Supervisory skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
• Ability to pass a background check upon hire and periodically throughout the course of employment.
