About the position
The Strings Instructor at Community Music School is responsible for providing private lessons in string instruments to students of all ages and abilities. This part-time position offers a flexible schedule and focuses on creating a positive learning environment while developing individualized curricula to inspire students in their musical journey.
Responsibilities
- Provide quality instruction in violin, cello, double bass, and viola at an advanced level.
- Develop and implement individualized curricula to inspire student success.
- Teach various musical skills to individuals or groups of all ages.
- Instruct students in instrumental techniques, scales, sight-reading, music theory, and self-expression through music.
- Prepare and register students for music evaluations, auditions, and recitals.
- Attend regular faculty meetings and maintain clear communication with students, parents, and administration.
- Complete annual student progress evaluations and post-interview lesson evaluation forms.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in music education, music performance, or related field.
- At least 1 year of teaching experience.
- Proficiency in guitar pedagogy and performance.
- Ability to work flexibly and independently with a diverse student base.
- Basic technology skills including Google Suite and online scheduling systems.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Enthusiastic and positive attitude with a passion for teaching.
Nice-to-haves
- Advanced degrees in music education or performance preferred.
- Spanish language skills are a plus.
