Strings Instructor

About the position

The Strings Instructor at Community Music School is responsible for providing private lessons in string instruments to students of all ages and abilities. This part-time position offers a flexible schedule and focuses on creating a positive learning environment while developing individualized curricula to inspire students in their musical journey.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality instruction in violin, cello, double bass, and viola at an advanced level.
• Develop and implement individualized curricula to inspire student success.
• Teach various musical skills to individuals or groups of all ages.
• Instruct students in instrumental techniques, scales, sight-reading, music theory, and self-expression through music.
• Prepare and register students for music evaluations, auditions, and recitals.
• Attend regular faculty meetings and maintain clear communication with students, parents, and administration.
• Complete annual student progress evaluations and post-interview lesson evaluation forms.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in music education, music performance, or related field.
• At least 1 year of teaching experience.
• Proficiency in guitar pedagogy and performance.
• Ability to work flexibly and independently with a diverse student base.
• Basic technology skills including Google Suite and online scheduling systems.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Enthusiastic and positive attitude with a passion for teaching.

Nice-to-haves

• Advanced degrees in music education or performance preferred.
• Spanish language skills are a plus.
