About the position

The Stroke Program Manager - Quality Assurance at The George Washington University Hospital is responsible for overseeing quality assurance initiatives within the Stroke Program. This role is essential for ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, maintaining accreditation, and enhancing the quality of care for stroke patients. The manager will work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to monitor and improve clinical outcomes, ensuring that data collection and reporting meet industry standards and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead quality assurance activities for the Stroke Program, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards such as The Joint Commission and American Heart Association/Stroke Association guidelines.
  • Oversee data collection, abstraction, and submission of stroke patient outcomes to regulatory agencies and quality registries.
  • Monitor clinical performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure program compliance with certification and accreditation requirements.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to develop protocols and care pathways for stroke patients.
  • Prepare and submit periodic reports to regulatory bodies, third-party payers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate educational programs and training sessions to support staff adherence to best practices in stroke care.
  • Engage in community outreach and education efforts to raise awareness of stroke prevention and treatment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a healthcare-related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in stroke care, quality assurance, or program management.
  • Experience with stroke certification programs and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with quality improvement methodologies, data reporting, and stroke-related clinical metrics.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
