About the position

Parker Aerospace, a segment of Parker Hannifin Corporation, is a leading producer in the aerospace industry, specializing in flight control, hydraulic, fuel and inerting systems, fluid conveyance, thermal management, and engine components. The Structural and Dynamics Analysis Engineer will play a crucial role in providing expertise in structural analysis and dynamics specifically for aircraft braking systems, which are subject to rigorous performance requirements. This position involves applying advanced analysis skills and knowledge throughout various project phases, including initial concept development, proposal, design optimization, qualification, and in-service support. The engineer will be responsible for ensuring product integrity and addressing issues related to obsolescence and concessions, while also identifying suitable materials and analyzing structures for strength, stiffness, fatigue, and damage tolerance. The role requires frequent collaboration with internal and external partners, providing technical assistance and guidance to teams of designers and engineers involved in the development of aircraft wheels, brakes, and brake control systems. The engineer will also support material characterization and prototype testing, and will be expected to communicate decisions and formalize recommendations that impact their area of responsibility. This position is integral to maintaining the high standards of performance and reliability that Parker Aerospace is known for, and it offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative aerospace solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide analysis support for matters impacting product integrity, obsolescence, and concessions
  • Identify suitable materials for structural applications, material properties, and design allowables
  • Analyze and size structures for strength, stiffness, fatigue, damage tolerance, or combinations thereof
  • Support material characterization, prototype, and qualification testing
  • Communicate decisions & formalize recommendations impacting area of responsibility
  • Frequent interaction with internal and external partners and customers, and other departments within Parker, providing technical assistance and guidance
  • Work collaboratively with and provide analysis support to teams of designers and engineers on the design and development of aircraft wheels and brakes and brake control system components

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Aerospace Engineering or related degree; advanced degree is a plus
  • 8+ years of relevant experience with a strong background in structural and structural dynamics analysis
  • Experience with linear and non-linear statics, buckling, stability, fatigue, and linear dynamic analyses
  • Experience with analysis of free and forced vibration of damped systems
  • Additional background in thermal analysis would be beneficial and preferred
  • Background in fracture mechanics and crack propagation analysis would be beneficial
  • Background in metallurgical, materials, and/or failure analyses would also be beneficial
  • Proficiency with CAD and finite element analysis tools such as CATIA and ANSYS
  • Excellent planning, organizational, multi-tasking, decision making, problem solving, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to drive tasks to completion
  • Proficient at technical/specification writing and technical report generation
