About the position

Parsons is seeking a Structural (Bridge) Designer/Drafter to join their team in Denver, focusing on transportation infrastructure projects, particularly bridge design. This role involves performing design and drafting assignments that range from basic to moderately complex, utilizing CAD software to create engineering drawings and layouts. The position offers a hybrid work schedule after an initial period and emphasizes collaboration with other designers and engineers to ensure a seamless design process.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize Microstation and/or AutoCAD to prepare engineering drawings, layouts, and assemblies from general engineering and design information, rough sketches, and specifications, following established standards and procedures.
  • Work closely with other Designer/Drafters and Engineers to ensure a coordinated and seamless design process.
  • Apply drafting and design principles to create working drawings that meet applicable standards and codes.
  • Use technical manuals and standards such as AASHTO, ANSI, and ASME to ensure compliance with design safety factors, tolerances, and specifications.
  • Assist with file management, compiling plan sets, and organizing design documents for submittal.
  • Perform basic calculations and compile data necessary for preparing design drawings.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Familiarity with CAD design/drafting, especially Microstation and/or AutoCAD.
  • Ability to interpret and ensure conformance to relevant CAD standards (state and municipal DOTs) and company policies.
  • Willingness to learn new modeling technologies as they become available and required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Applied Science Drafting (or equivalent) from an accredited technical institute.
  • Ability to read and create orthographic (2D) and/or isometric (3D) designs.
  • 0-5 years of experience in structural or civil drafting, with a focus on transportation or infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of Microstation, AutoCAD, and BrIM (Bridge Information Modeling) is highly preferred, but BIM experience or a willingness to learn BrIM will also be considered.
  • Experience with DOT standards and ProjectWise or similar document management systems is a plus.
