About the position

Gannett Fleming TranSystems is seeking a Structural Bridge Engineer to join their Fort Worth, TX office. The role involves designing new structures and inspecting and rehabilitating existing ones for roadways and railroads. The engineer will be responsible for project design, field inspections, budget adherence, quality control, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and modify reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, and designs for complex projects.
  • Plan and develop engineering projects addressing unique or controversial problems.
  • Organize and develop project teams for specific phases of projects, including technical studies and project inspections.
  • Review project designs for compliance with engineering principles and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate technical developments, scheduling, and manpower, resolving design problems as needed.
  • Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
  • Develop project scope, estimate manpower needs, prepare schedules, and track project progress.
  • Ensure project completion within allocated time and budget.
  • Maintain liaison with internal and external stakeholders on technical matters.
  • Develop and present proposals to clients in collaboration with Client Managers.
  • Direct construction site inspections to monitor progress and ensure compliance with engineering standards.
  • Plan and execute project meetings and negotiate project issues with clients.
  • Ensure adherence to quality control and assurance guidelines.
  • Interpret contract changes and advise management on necessary adjustments.
  • Contribute to client marketing meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABET accredited school.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in structural design, inspections, rehabilitation, and evaluation of bridges.
  • Professional Engineer (civil) or Structural Engineer license in Texas or ability to obtain it within 6 months.
  • Familiarity with structural programs such as STAAD, BARS, MDX, AASHTOWare BrR, and LEAP.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and bridge design/layout programs used by TxDOT.
  • Experience with Texas Department of Transportation standards and requirements for structures.
  • Ability to engage multiple perspectives in problem-solving and encourage team learning.
