About the position

The Structural Bridge Engineer at AtkinsRéalis will be involved in a variety of transportation-related structural engineering projects across the US. This role focuses on planning, design, and production of engineering drawings, as well as conducting engineering investigations and preparing reports. The engineer will work closely with experienced professionals and participate in construction activities, ensuring compliance with specifications and quality control.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the planning, design, and production of engineering drawings.
  • Supervises the production of engineering drawings as needed.
  • Carries out specific assignments in preparing and assembling specifications.
  • Conducts engineering investigations and planning work by completing well-defined tasks.
  • Collects and analyzes data using established procedures and performs routine calculations.
  • Participates in evaluating the feasibility of alternate solutions.
  • Prepares assigned sections of reports under the close review of a more experienced professional.
  • Reviews shop drawings for conformance with specifications during construction activities.
  • Assists in recordkeeping and generating progress reports during construction.
  • Observes construction procedures and collects samples for quality control testing.
  • Performs data acquisition and analysis, researching alternative design approaches and site conditions.
  • Prepares material for reports and permit applications, including gathering information and writing outlines.
  • Performs engineering calculations and field observations of construction as appropriate.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Civil and/or Structural Engineering.
  • 3-6+ years of relevant experience.
  • EIT Required.
  • PE is a plus, but not required.
  • DOT experience is a plus.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
