About the position

As a Licensed Professional Engineer at our leading bridge engineering firm, you will play a crucial role in the design, analysis, and checking of complex bridge structures. This position requires a strong foundation in civil or structural engineering, as you will lead the structural design and detailing of bridge components, working closely with Project Managers and Senior Engineers to ensure the highest standards of quality and safety are met. Your responsibilities will include developing comprehensive design reports, conducting investigations, and preparing contract plans, project specifications, and cost estimates. In addition to design work, you will participate in construction project oversight, which involves reviewing Requests for Information (RFIs), shop drawings, and conducting site visits to ensure that projects are progressing according to specifications. You will also assist Project Managers in guiding and supervising entry-level engineers, providing mentorship and support as they develop their skills. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work with clients, subconsultants, contractors, and fabricators to ensure that all project-related correspondence is produced efficiently and effectively. Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, and check complex bridge structures
  • Lead structural design and detailing of bridge components with guidance from Project Managers and Senior Engineers
  • Develop design reports, investigations, contract plans, project specifications, and cost estimates
  • Participate in construction project oversight, including reviewing RFIs, shop drawings, and conducting site visits
  • Assist Project Managers and guide/supervise entry-level engineers
  • Support proposal development
  • Review construction specifications and special provisions
  • Collaborate with clients, subconsultants, contractors, and fabricators as needed
  • Produce project-related correspondence

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Licensure as a Professional Engineer in one or more states
  • Strong technical writing and oral communication skills
  • Ability to delegate tasks and supervise entry-level engineers
  • Skills to produce internal and external project correspondence
