About the position

The Structural (Bridge) Engineer will be responsible for managing major bridge projects, preparing detailed plans and construction documents, and performing engineering calculations. This role requires collaboration with various disciplines and participation in project meetings, ensuring that all aspects of the project are coordinated effectively.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Structural Bridge Engineer on major projects
• Prepare detailed plans and construction documents for assigned tasks
• Perform engineering calculations to support detailed plans and construction documents
• Develop contract specifications and bid documents, and write technical reports
• Conduct occasional field site visits
• Coordinate various discipline and payment items within construction documents
• Attend internal project meetings as required by the project task lead or Project Manager

Requirements

• BS in Civil Engineering with a Structural Concentration (preferred)
• Five to ten years of Structural Engineering experience focusing on bridge design (preferred)
• PE License required (CO and/or CA preferred)
• Experience in conceptual, preliminary, and final design and plan production of bridge projects following Federal and State codes
• Bridge rating and/or inspection experience is a plus
• Familiarity with current AASHTO design specifications, design procedures, bridge standards, and structural computer models
• Experience in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD; experience with current Bridge Design and FEM software (preferred)
• Ability to work effectively as part of a design team
• Experience with local client base is preferable
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
