In this position, you will support assigned engineers, designers, or other technical roles by providing technical support and translating technical notes, sketches, electronic data, and drawings into documentable technical solutions. You will perform your work under moderate supervision, receiving direction on moderately complex assignments and tasks. Your work will be frequently reviewed by more senior staff to ensure the application of sound techniques and principles. You will also review work produced by junior staff for quality assurance, ensuring that all outputs meet our high standards. As part of your responsibilities, you will draft plans and mark-ups to create construction documents or structural design plans. You will review all work for completeness and accuracy before submitting it for review and revise structural design plans based on feedback from clients, managers, or reviewers. You may also visit project sites to assist in data collection for clients and vendors, and you will be expected to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining organized CAD files for clients and local authorities. This role requires a commitment to learning and adhering to office CAD standards and practices, as well as the ability to effectively manage time-sensitive tasks and work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform work under moderate supervision and receive direction on moderately complex assignments.
  • Draft plans/mark-ups for creating construction documents or structural design plans.
  • Review all work for completeness and accuracy prior to submission for review.
  • Revise structural design plans according to client, manager, or reviewer comments.
  • Assist in organizing and maintaining all CAD or CAD-related files for clients, town, or county intake.
  • Delegate responsibilities for submitting plans on time.
  • Obtain work assignments of specific structural design elements to CAD drafting duties from project manager within allocated budgets.
  • Perform non-routine and more complex assignments from verbal instructions under minimal supervision.
  • Visit project sites to assist in data collection as required by senior staff.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent commensurate experience required.
  • Associate's degree or equivalent in drafting or an engineering design related technology or related field preferred.
  • Three or more (3+) years of experience using CAD standards, preferably in building, transport, and/or marine infrastructure within the AEC industry.
  • Equivalent of computer certificate for CAD Class Training.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar design software is required.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and software such as Microsoft Office.

Nice-to-haves
