COWI is seeking a Structural/Civil Engineer specializing in bridges, tunnels, and marine structures to join our North American team in Portland. This full-time position offers a hybrid work environment, allowing for both in-office and remote work. Your primary responsibilities will include preparing plans, designs, calculations, and cost estimates for various projects. You will produce engineering calculations and designs that meet project requirements while adhering to the latest industry codes and standards. Additionally, you will prepare design deliverable documents and ensure quality control validation of detailed calculations, design drawings, and specifications. Frequent communication with the Project Director, Project Manager, design team, and BIM/CADD team will be essential to ensure project success. Responsibilities

  • Prepare plans, designs, calculations, and cost estimates.
  • Produce engineering calculations, designs, and details per project requirements and the latest industry codes and standards.
  • Prepare design deliverable documents and handle quality control validation of detailed calculations, design drawings, and specifications.
  • Engage in frequent in-person and virtual interfaces with Project Director, Project Manager, design team, BIM/CADD team, etc.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working as a structural engineer focusing on steel analysis and design.
  • A Professional Engineer (P.E.) License.
  • Familiarity with codes such as AISC, ASCE, AASHTO, ACI, API, DNVGL, ISO, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience with structural dynamics, numerical modeling, 3D finite element analysis, integrated load analyses, monopile design, steel jacket design, fatigue analysis, and design of structures.
  • Proficiency in industry software and programming languages such as Sofistik, SAP, ROBOT, SACS, SESAM, BLADED, SQL, Matlab, and Python.
