As part of our BAE Systems Jacksonville Ship Repair (JSR) team, you will be working alongside some of the industry's top talent on the forefront of technology. We are currently hiring for an experienced Structural/Heavy-Lift/Transport Engineer with the ability to obtain a PE license in Florida to support developing conventional and improved engineering solutions for heavy lifting and transport projects using Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs). You will directly support the preparation of heavy lift work by selecting existing and renewed engineering method statements, drawings, calculations, visualizations, manuals, risk assessments and/or other relevant documents to ensure a safe and efficient execution of the movement of U.S. War ships and other commercial vessels. In this role, you will provide heavy lift engineering consultations, evaluate lifting requirements, and develop heavy lift engineering technical packages. You will be responsible for providing credible and specialized engineering analysis while advising on the most optimum and cost-effective methods of utilizing required large sized heavy lifting equipment throughout the shipyard. Your expertise will be crucial in developing best-in-class engineering solutions for heavy lifting and transportation projects, working with both conventional methodologies and developing new approaches. You will collaborate with staff in the field to develop solutions to and troubleshoot complex heavy lift and transport challenges, preparing and selecting both existing and renewed engineering statements, and developing drawings, calculations, visualizations, manuals, risk assessments, and other key documents. Additionally, you will be responsible for pointing out risks with regard to safety, the environment, or health and reporting these risks to senior management, ensuring efficient execution that delivers the right results for the customer. Completion of AutoCAD drawings and/or steering the CAD Engineering, as well as designing custom lifting devices and auxiliary transport equipment, will also be part of your responsibilities.
