About the position

My client in Washington DC is looking for a Sr. Structural Design Engineer to support their government work in Indian Head, MD. This position involves being part of a collaborative team of five engineers from various disciplines. The primary responsibility will be to review design packages that include structural calculations, design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for facility upgrades on base. The role requires a strong understanding of structural engineering principles and the ability to work effectively within a team to ensure that all design aspects meet the necessary standards and requirements. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in structural engineering, particularly in the context of industrial buildings, and will be expected to contribute to the overall success of the projects undertaken by the team.

Responsibilities

• Review design packages including structural calculations, design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for facility upgrades.
• Collaborate with a team of engineers from different disciplines to ensure comprehensive design reviews.
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations in all design work.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and team members.
• Participate in project meetings and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
• 8+ years of experience in structural engineering, with at least 5 years focused on designing structural components for industrial buildings.
• Secret security clearance.
