About the position

The Structural Project Engineer will be responsible for the structural design of solar and construction projects, primarily focusing on wood construction. This role involves drafting structural components, performing calculations, coordinating with peers, and communicating with clients. The engineer will also conduct site visits to assess structural conditions and train new engineers on design procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Draft structural components involved with wood construction projects
  • Use engineering software to perform structural calculations for wood construction projects
  • Coordinate structural related issues with peers and principal engineers
  • Communicate structural related issues with clients and/or client relations department in the office
  • Perform on-site measurements and investigation of structural as-built conditions when requested
  • Train newly hired engineers about design procedures and use of engineering tools
  • Keep accurate log of hours worked and time off using the office time clock management system
  • Assist with other light office duties when requested
  • Manage project information with office CRM and/or project management system
  • Maintain project schedules and be responsible for meeting project deadlines.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited University
  • Advanced knowledge of CAD
  • Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
