About the position

The Structural Designer role at Actalent involves supporting senior designers and project teams across various industries, including power generation, mining, oil and gas, and renewables. The primary focus is to ensure that structural drawing deliverables are completed on time and within budget while collaborating with other design disciplines to resolve design clashes in 3D models. The position also requires producing high-quality 2D structural drawings and may involve travel to client facilities to verify on-site conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Support Designers and project team members across various industries.
  • Ensure structural drawing deliverables are completed on-time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with other design disciplines to resolve physical design clashes within the 3D model.
  • Review the 3D model for completeness.
  • Travel to client facilities to verify on-site physical design conditions.
  • Produce 2D structural drawing deliverables with attention to quality, consistency, and accountability.

Requirements

  • 1-8 years of experience in concrete and structural steel.
  • Industrial experience in mining, wastewater, oil and gas, or similar sectors.
  • Proficiency in CADworx and at least one major CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation).
  • Awareness of American Concrete Institute (ACI) for foundation design.
  • Awareness of American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) manual for steel design.
  • Awareness of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Time management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate Degree in Computer Aided Design Technology preferred.
  • CAD certificate required if non-degreed.
  • Proficiency with Bentley Open Buildings Designer preferred.
  • Experience with Autodesk Navisworks, Autodesk Revit, and Trimble Tekla valued but not required.
