About the position

One Tech Engineering is seeking a Structural Designer to develop plans and prepare complex drawings based on engineering notes and sketches. The role requires collaboration with engineers and project managers to ensure design accuracy and adherence to company standards. This position is based in Morristown, NJ, and is not eligible for remote work or sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare detailed drawings using standardized techniques from sketches and verbal instructions.
• Collect initial drawings and design ideas from engineers to create complete design models for review.
• Apply drafting standards to create control schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment connection diagrams.
• Coordinate with engineers and project managers to verify design details according to company standards.
• Provide a range of drawing production work including problem analysis, layout, detailing, and drafting.
• Communicate with internal design resources and external clients regarding project requirements.
• Execute design changes and project drawing revisions.
• Maintain proficiency in Revit and CAD systems and work towards mastering current software.
• Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all company policies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in drafting technology or related field and 7 years of related experience, or an Associate Degree with 8 years of experience, or 9 years of progressive detailing and design experience.
• Advanced understanding of design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Navisworks, and Excel.
• Ability to learn and utilize new design software programs effectively.
• Advanced ability to utilize both 2D and 3D applications for engineering drawings.
• Strong knowledge in design, calculations, and design systems.
• Competent in the fundamental concepts of related disciplines and capable of operating necessary design software.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-discipline project team environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
