About the position

The Structural Durability Engineer position at Altair involves leading a high-performing team of durability development engineers to analyze various components and systems using Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) methods to enhance design durability. The role requires ownership of complex durability methods development tasks and roadmapping, ensuring that robust durability solutions are delivered across all vehicle parts. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams, providing technical oversight as necessary, and will be responsible for generating detailed component and subsystem test procedures that align with virtual matched pairs to aid in correlation. Additionally, the engineer will create, manage, and approve standards related to durability analysis and lead offline development studies aimed at implementing these solutions into the program cycle plan upon readiness. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of experience in automotive product development, with a well-rounded skill set in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for static and dynamic simulations, particularly for Body, Closures, Battery, and Chassis systems. The role requires a thorough understanding of component, system, and vehicle-level durability analysis and test protocols, as well as experience in loads generation and validation processes. Strong problem-solving skills, the ability to prioritize tasks according to business objectives, and excellent communication skills are essential for presenting findings to all levels of the organization. Advanced knowledge of CAE analysis toolsets such as ABAQUS, Nastran, Optistruct, and nCode is required, along with proficiency in Atlassian tools like JAMA and JIRA. A valid driver's license and continuous Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) monitoring are also necessary for this position.
