About the position

The position involves performing strength, fatigue, and fracture analysis for structural components at United Launch Alliance (ULA). The candidate will create analysis models, conduct hand calculations, and provide strength inputs and recommendations for new designs and installations. The role requires reviewing and approving engineering layouts and designs, making engineering design recommendations, and documenting analysis results in strength reports. The candidate will also participate in design reviews and support production activities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform strength, fatigue, and fracture analysis for structural components.
  • Create analysis models and perform hand calculations.
  • Review and approve 3-D engineering layouts, models, designs, and 2-D drawing changes.
  • Make engineering design recommendations considering thermal, mechanical, and pressure loading.
  • Document analysis results in strength reports.
  • Support internal peer reviews, tabletop reviews, and formal design reviews.
  • Evaluate hardware non-conformances to support production activities.
  • Participate in internal/external design reviews and technical interchange meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 4 years of related work experience.
  • Understanding of analysis tools and methodology such as NASTRAN and FEMAP.
  • Ability to make design recommendations based on analysis results.
  • Fundamental knowledge of statics and mechanics of materials.
  • Experience analyzing structural components.
  • Understanding of bolted joint modeling and analysis, GD&T standards, and basic hand calculations.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
